For years now I had planned to repair the door to my workshop but I came to realize that the poor old door was too far gone to save. It had fallen victim to a momma bear that was very intent on getting into the workshop and the freezer we used to keep there. In the process she destroyed the octagonal window and removed the bottom panel of the door. Just before Christmas I built the new door and restored the old hardware.
Very nice touch adding a bit of the old to the new one!
Thanks Gunta. We got the door 43 years ago, while build our house, from an old family friend. She was renovating her very old house and gave it to us as a housewarming present. The now destroyed octagon window was another housewarming gift from another friend. The door handle had layers of rust and paint and it was great to find the texture and design underneath once cleaned up.
What wonderful family history and memories (which, of course is what history is made of) you’ve preserved. Have to agree with Anonymous down there! Wholeheartedly.
Thanks Gunta!
Like everything you do Ken, it’s first class!
Blush – thank you!
Awesome door, Ken! Hope you have a happy New Year!
Thanks very much Barb – a happy 2018 to you also!
What a beautiful job you did, and that door knob – what a treasure. It’s fitting to make a new door for opening the New Year. Best for 2018, Ken!
Thanks very much and all the best to you Lynne!
