A new addition to our garden. I believe Paw Paw are native to the U.S. east coast so it will be interesting how it fairs on the south coast of British Columbia. We have both a male and female shrub that survived a fairly cold Winter so here’s hoping.

It’s a familiar name, but that’s about it for me, except that I associate it more with the southeast than the northeast. With your care, I bet they will both do great.
There is a kids song about Paw Paw – one line keeps going through my head, “way down yonder in the Paw Paw patch”. That’s the extent of my knowledge of them. Hopefully we will get some fruit.
Very intriguing. I knew nothing about Paw Paws, so had to take a look. Perhaps you might enjoy watching this NPR video clip about it: http://www.npr.org/sections/thesalt/2011/09/29/140894570/the-pawpaw-foraging-for-americas-forgotten-fruit
Good luck with growing it on our coast (why not?)
Thanks Gunta, an interesting video. Now I need to go out and fertilize my trees so I get some fruit. Unfortunately they are only two feet high so I may have a bit of a wait. 😉
