  1. They’re great! What we called Katydids in the east are bigger, and I haven’t seen them here.I miss the loud “Ka-ty-did” in the evenings, especially further south – in North Carolina they were spectacular.

    • There are thousands of varieties of katydids. Unfortunately ours are silent. Their other name is bush cricket. Our black field crickets start chirping around August and that usually signals the fading of Summer for me.
